In the past, I have written a number of scathing articles concerning Senator Joe Lieberman for my blog. In fact, I invite all of you to read each and every one of them. This is what the Nutmeg state re-elected to represent them in our United States senate? What fools are those who voted for him over Ned Lamont.
In wishing to bomb Iran, one must ask; whose interests is this senator representing? Is he representing our nation or the State of Israel? I would say the latter since he is one among the many elected officials in the back pockets of AIPAC (The American Israel Public Affairs Committee). In fact if one goes to their homepage, you will clearly see the alarm coming from AIPAC when it comes to Iran.
They are deathly afraid of Iran’s nuclear enrichment program, but what they are failing to tell the American people is that Israel owns a nuclear stockpile that includes 400 nuclear war heads. One must ask; who is the greater threat to our national security and the security of the Middle East. Is it a nation that is years away from even attempting to bomb a nation with the use of a nuclear war head or a nation that has many?
In the article that I refer all of you to above, it speaks of economic sanctions against Iran, but when Israel has violated 71 United Nations resolutions, it falls on deaf ears in Washington. In this past article in which I do speak of Israel’s nuclear capability, I also call my reader’s attention through a hyperlink of every single violation of these United Nations resolutions passed in which the State of Israel has ignored.
Is Senator Lieberman actually thinking it through of the negative ramifications such a military strike by our nation against Iran will bring about? Right now due to our involvement and occupation in Iraq, we do not have the military ground forces available should this bring about a regional war.
Is he forgetting the economic ties that Iran has with countries such as Russia and China? Right now our relations with both countries are strained. Not much was thought of China blowing up a weather satellite last year, but could our military action against Iran cause China to take out some of satellites we depend upon for our national security in which we will be flying blind within the Middle East. Also there have been news articles lately in which China is building up their military forces and it should concern all of us as to why they are doing so.
At this juncture, Russia has within its stockpile of weapons missiles that are able to breach U.S. security forces. Will we awaken that sleeping giant should Lieberman get his wishes in which we will preemptively strike Iran?
As Americans are screaming of the price they are paying at the pump the same sea lanes that our U.S. Naval vessels are using are also used by Iranian oil vessels. Right now Iran has within its arsenal Sunburn missiles that they can use against our naval vessels.
In wishing to strike Iran in a preemptive fashion, senators like Lieberman should pay close attention to this passage when it comes to Sunburn missiles, “The Sunburn can deliver a 200-kiloton nuclear payload, or: a 750-pound conventional warhead, within a range of 100 miles, more than twice the range of the Exocet. The Sunburn combines a Mach 2.1 speed (two times the speed of sound) with a flight pattern that hugs the deck and includes “violent end maneuvers” to elude enemy defenses. The missile was specifically designed to defeat the US Aegis radar defense system.”
In having our naval vessels within striking range of Iran, Lieberman should pay close attention to this fact concerning Sunburn missiles, “The Sunburn’s combined supersonic speed and payload size produce tremendous kinetic energy on impact, with devastating consequences for ship and crew.” So, basically our naval vessels will become death traps to our naval forces.
As Senator Lieberman shoots off his pie hole, Iran does have the capability of shooting off these deadly weapons in which many more of our military forces will become the target of their wrath. We have already lost so many of our brave forces in Iraq; can we afford to lose those that serve this nation on these naval vessels?
When Governor Bill Richardson declared that our best option is diplomacy, it is imperative for our nation’s security and the security of our military forces that he is listened to instead of Joe Lieberman. We need as a nation to ratchet down the tension and violence that we helped perpetrate within the Middle East instead of ratcheting it up by listening to those like Joe Lieberman.
War hawks such as Joe Lieberman and John McCain who jokingly sung “Bomb, bomb, bomb, Iran” are our greatest threat to our national security. It is no wonder those two are joined at the hip. When Senator John F. Kerry stated in his speech citing he would not be entering the 2008 presidential campaign, he said what this country needs is to do “some heavy diplomatic lifting” when it comes to the Middle East and that is where I feel like men such as Governor Bill Richardson are correct. After all, Governor Bill Richardson was once our United Nation’s ambassador in which diplomacy was our best defense. It is Governor Bill Richardson who is used as a trouble shooter when it comes securing our national security.
Lastly, to the voters of Connecticut, again I ask; what were you thinking when you re-elected Joe Lieberman over Ned Lamont? You were not thinking of America’s national security and all that voted for Lieberman should hang their heads in shame.
