To whom it may concern,

I am a born Canadian citizen who has legally immigrated to the United States of America. Though I have only been here but a few years, my interest in this glorious country began as a child. I would read about the American Revolution, the Declaration of Independence, and the Constitution and was fascinated with the heart that Americans seemed to have. I often wished I could be a part of a country where the site of the flag waving against a blue sky could bring tears to the eyes the young and old alike.

Since coming to the United States, I have learned much about politics, history and the daily life. I have learned the meaning of the flag and of the Pledge of Allegiance. I was shocked to learn of the great trouble this country is in. I never would have imagined the Land of the Free was slowly being shackled and cuffed. I learned of a National ID card, the Patriot Act and the idea of a “North American Union.” I’ve since learned that the Constitution that this great country was founded on is being called “but a piece of paper” and being ignored. People being arrested with no lawyers, no trials, being held for an undetermined amount of time…All this on suspicion. There are ongoing wars, yet no declaration of war. The brave men and women who should be protecting this country are thousands of miles away acting as police to other nations. I’ve heard of men starving and freezing to death on the streets of the country they risked their lives to defend, not to mention the countless women and children who suffer the same fate, all while billions of dollars are being sent to distant countries to help their poor. I’ve learned that the entire country’s economy rests in the hands of a few greedy private bankers who would see the day of a One World Government.

It breaks my heart to see the danger this wonderful country is in, and more so at how few people will open their eyes to it. Many people I’ve asked about the National ID card had never heard from it, let alone that it was to be implemented in May of 2008. Many people call the North American Union nothing but a conspiracy theory. That’s what the countries of Europe thought of the idea of a European Union. People scoff at the idea of curfews, tracking implants, police on every corner with the authority to kill those who oppose the government in any way. Not in our lifetimes and probably not for generations, but unless the people stand up and stop it, it will happen. Think of the frog and the boiling water. If you put a frog in boiling water, it will see the danger and jump out immediately. If you put a frog in warm water and slowly bring it to a boil, it will stay where it is and die. The changes to this country are happening too slowly for people to see. So slowly are the liberties of citizens being taken away that they don’t see the danger.

I’ve been watching closely the upcoming election. I’ve never cared much for politics, in the country of my citizenship or in the country I love. Politicians are all the same. They tell you what you want to hear until they’re in power and then they follow their own agenda. They lie, they steal and they buy their way out of trouble. They are a truly corrupt breed. When I first heard of a man running under a Republican flag named Ron Paul, I blew him off as being a liar like all the rest of his kind. After my husband told me to do some research on him, I did so and though my hope was there, I was skeptical that he was like all the rest. So I dug deeper. I since learned that he has been a congressman in the state of Texas for 17 years. In that time, he has never faltered in what he says or believes. The things he says today are the same things he was saying 20 years ago. He has never once voted to raise taxes, he has never once voted to raise congressional pay and he returns a portion of his annual congressional office budget to the U.S. treasury every year. My hope for the country I love has been kindled by this humble 72 year old doctor.

They call him crazy. They call him a dreamer. They say what he stands for can never be accomplished. The say he doesn’t have a chance. Do you know who else they said that about? The men who stood up against a tyrannical nation and said, “We are not going to take it anymore.” The men who said, “We will form our own country.” People called them crazy for wanting to stand up to Britain. People said it’s an impossible dream for a handful of men from 13 colonies to stand up and fight one of the most powerful nations of that time. They were not paid soldiers. They were not trained nor properly armed. They were farmers who stood up to protect their families, land and freedom. They were called dreamers. What do we call them today? Heroes. The fathers of this land. No one today thinks they were crazy or dreamers. They accomplished what no one thought possible. They won their freedom from a nation bent on controlling them and the people of today must look to the past to preserve their future. Once again the people are being called upon to fight for their country, for their freedom. This war will not be fought on a field with horses, swords and powder, it will be won using the right our fathers guaranteed us so many years ago; the right to vote. A vote for freedom cannot be a wasted vote, win or lose. There is but one man with the morality, strength and determination to make this country free once more. Vote for freedom. Vote for Ron Paul.

I may have been born in another country, but in my heart and in my soul I am proud to call myself an American patriot. Though I am not yet eligible to be a citizen, therefore cannot vote, I am doing what I can to ensure Dr. Paul is given the opportunity to lead this country. I am helping spread his word and it is a very powerful word. Freedom. Dr. Paul does not want to be president for power, money or status. He wants to bring this country to what it used to be. To the United States of America I read about and fell in love with. This country is not lost. She is hurting and she needs the help of every red blooded patriot to restore her to the glory she once knew.

I am a Canadian born citizen who legally immigrated to the United States but a couple years ago. I love this country and everything it stands for. I enjoy watching movies, target shooting and playing pool with my husband.
