I'm listening to the CNN Dems Presidential debate right now. These people are idiots. Not drooling idiots; but idiots none the less. I could write a swell 700-word quasi-literary rave about all this; but my second sentence (above) is really all that is necessary. None of these idiots make my personal cut. I am ashamed of them. It's going to take me a while to calm down. Everybody had half-assed plans that went a tenth of the way toward really addressing any issue brought up. Nobody could really explain anything. Nobody had any damned vision... and not one of them realizes that their plans don't go far enough on anything. They didn't raise even half the real major issues (beyond Iraq). None of these idiots took on George W. Bush. Senator Dodd was the only one to mention the Civil Rights that we all have lost. All he did was mention them. As Democrats, the idiots I saw tonight make good Republicans. There wasn't even one viable candidate on that stage that represents the progressive blogosphere. We damned near nominated Howard Dean four years ago, and we've grown five-fold since then, to around 23 million. On CSpan this weekend, I heard Republicans who were stronger and angrier on some of these issues than any of these losers. What the Hell happened here? ... and I want to f*cking kill Wolf Blitzer. Richardson is having a tough time with the Press. He's a good guy, but 1)He's DLC, and 2) he lacks the same vision for the problems America is experiencing now, that the other candidates lack. He thinks clearly and steadily, but lacks the incisive articulate style that Obama and Howard Dean both have. Richardson is only a third of the way there, on just about every issue -- but I'll give you Foreign Policy and almost give you Immigration. He needs to do much better. Richardson isn't saying these things like he should be. He needs to say them loudly and often, if he wants to solve any of the issues that would land on his desk if he were elected. ... and incidentally, if he wants the support of 23 million democratic voters in the blogosphere who fundamentally agree with what I've just typed, above. Earlier I wrote that I've heard Republicans make stronger denounciations of the Bush administration this weekend; and I have. Richardson needs to be at least as strong as some of those Republicans were or I just won't vote for him. Here's my platform:
  • Healthcare is free.
  • University Education is free.
  • All Federal and State Elections are 100% publicly financed.
  • Troops come home from Iraq now.
  • Torture is outlawed. Any prisoner we tortured should be released.
  • MidEast countries must see their way clear to shut down AlQaeda and other terrorist operations and turn over Bin Laden, or we will take strong steps they won't like.
  • No more job outsourcing.
  • Adequate skilled training for support professions and trades is free.
  • Artists and scientists own unassignable primary copyrights and patents on their creations, inventions and discoveries.
  • Every American Citizen has the right to a skilled job using his/her training, that pays a living wage.
  • Industry and Government should act as employers-of-last-resort for skilled and trained workers.
  • Employees have the right to bargain individually with employers and to sue employers for contract breach.
  • We should seize and liquidate any company that gouges its customers for any reason as a part of their business model.
  • We should heavily fine any company that hires illegal aliens.
  • No domestic company planning to move mfg. overseas must first sell their domestic facility and then contract fairly with that new company as a vendor, for five years.
  • We should reform Wall Street, including the banking and insurance industries.
  • China and Mexico must immediately renegotiate trade relations with us, based on their Civil Rights and trade violations. We don't need them.
  • Break up all broadcasting and news media corporations based on their local holdings. Nobody gets to own more than ten or twelve broadcasting operations or Nationally available cable channels.
  • We immediately re-institute a modified equal-time requirement for broadcasters.
  • We should immediately replace 20% of our energy needs with domestic sources.
  • We should plan to become 100% energy self-sufficient within ten years.
  • We must reform our Federal government to include a new Bill of Rights.
  • The President and Congress should be made immediately accountable for what they do.
  • The new President should hire enough new FBI agents to thoroughly investigate the Bush administration. We should seize the $200-700 billion dollars their friends stole from us and jail all lawbreakers.
  • We should declare Saudi Arabia to be a terrorist State until they come clean about 9/11 and turn over Bin Laden. We have a National Emergency going on here. The government is under attack; the economy is under attack; the Army has been broken by a "war" we shouldn't be fighting; and health care, education, civil rights, consumer rights, just about everything in this country is in awful, awful shape. Anybody who says any less than this doesn't understand the problem. I don't care who the Hell we elect, as long as they have the vision to see what's gone wrong and the political skill necessary to set things right again.
