Okay, so it was a bad week for the race baiters on the right. After a series of successful "Obama is a racist" attacks -- Rev. J. Wright, the beer summit, and such -- they hit a sinkhole with theShirley Sherrod caper. So the whole racist tack may have run its course for the Obama haters. But if the "vast rightwing conspiracy" is anything it's persistent. So they are switching to a narrative that has proven to have more traction with their Ditto-Head demographic:"Obama is a socialist and hostile to business."
That's right boys and girls, Vladamir Obama is anti-business. He's killing the goose that lays golden eggs, turning America into Cuba North. Which is -- or at least should be -- a claim absurd on its face. Is this the same "socialist" who bailed out Wall Street rather than letting them stew in their own red ink? Is this the guy who threw a lifeline to Detroit's dinosaur automakers, saving America's auto industry from their own stupidity? Is this the guy who, with the best excuse in three quarters of a century, bailed America's perennially wayward big banks rather than breaking them up or nationalizing them?
Of course this new tack is just more rightwing-nut nonsense. Nevertheless, with the race-bait gambit looking like roadkill, the Obama-is-a-closet-socialist charge is looking like the next big lie. After all, as the old saying goes, "not all conservatives are stupid, but most stupid people tend to be conservatives:" And here's the proof of concept:
So there you have it -- the new anti-Obama narrative. But I suspect that this one will go the same way as the race baiting business. Why? For the same reason -- the evidence disproving it is right there in front of anyone who can read and think. In fact, the very people pushing the "Obama is killing business," are doing business -- and plenty of it. Here's a sampler from just this morning's news:
So, if Obama's policies are causing big business so much "uncertainty" and burdening them with regulations and oversight, why are they doing so well. In fact the only sector of the economy still suffering from the Bush depression is the part of the economy where most Americans live:
MEMO TO MAIN STREAM MEDIA:Maybe you need to tag any stories you run that claim Obama's policies are anti-business with what's really happening out there in company-land. Because one or the other is lie. Both narratives cannot survive scrutiny in the same story. Either Obama is killing the business goose, or the business goose and its barnyard friends are lying through their bills.
