Corporate Welfare & Socialism for the rich by Google Image
Needless to say the headline above is not true but it was shocking enough to make most readers take notice.
In fact, if terrorists had destroyed 50, 5, or even a single home in mainland USA the media would be screaming with outrage & indignation, calling for retribution and justice for the victims etc. This would be followed up by "in-depth' discussions by various "experts', government commissions, and the obligatory annual remembrances of the event including interviews with the survivors and victim's loved-ones.
But it seems that over a thousand homes can be obliterated by bush fires in Texas and an area the size of Connecticut can be burnt to a cinder yet the "lamestream' media only mentions the disaster as a byline - pushed off the front pages & TV screens by events in Egypt and Libya, which as we all know have dire consequences for the current & future well-being of American citizens.
There was a time when the US media covered nothing but domestic news. Visitors to this country would comment derogatively that it was just "murder, sport, and weather -- followed by round-the-world in 60 seconds'.
Now the pendulum has swung the other way and it's almost impossible to find out any real news of what's actually going on in the USA. Our newspapers & TVs are crammed with foreign news of a very dubious quality -- most of which has little or no impact and importance to ordinary working Americans.
It makes you wonder if this isn't part of some master plan so that we all feel grateful to be living in an America where "very little ever happens'. As opposed to some awful Third World country where people are dying daily and their homes & livelihoods are being destroyed.
Well I've got news for the "lamestream' media and our government. Lives, homes, hopes, and futures are being destroyed in the USA at a rate faster and wider that at any time in our history. Terrorists would be jubilant if they could only achieve a mere one thousandth of the damage which is currently being inflicted on this nation by the forces of nature and our own corrupt and incompetent media, business, and political elites. None of whom hold any allegiance to this nation beyond how much they can suck out of the working tax-payer to line their own pockets and satisfy their selfish wants.
It's not just bush fires in Texas and floods in Vermont. It's dying communities in our big cities and small rural towns, it's the evaporation of well-paying jobs that raise families, the uncontrollable debt burden, the foreclosure crisis, it's the misguided war on drugs that's locking up hundreds of thousands, it's socialism for the rich and corporate welfare of the most disgusting kind - I don't need to go on.
We all know it but Congress and our useless media will have us focus on overseas trivia and domestic non-issues like gay marriage and birth control. The Presidential race has become a circus in which the voters are allowed to choose from a short-list prepared by a corrupt self-selecting oligarchy. How much longer before the Second American Revolution throws out these crooks once & for all?
