A legion of monsters, born while we slept the sleep of innocents.
And when we awoke, we fought and died to save the world for Democracy, we became a brotherhood of workers and ended child labor, invented the forty-hour week and old-age pensions, health care, racial equality, and we sent men to the Moon. And then the monsters pulled the veil of sleep over our eyes again, and this time we awakened dispossessed, victims of our own desires, captives of our own hopes, anesthetized by our own dreams.
They are not the mythical monsters of legend. These are undead zombie ghouls with the power to harness a free people, to build railroads, extract black gold from a thousand wells, fill our air with heavy metals, our waters with excrement, raise a monoculture woods lacking the biodiversity which gives the forest life, and heedlessly spew gases that turn our oceans acid, lay waste to the teeming schools of cod and salmon and leave our oceans bereft of life, desertified and scraped clean only to cast the dead bodies of countless creatures overboard as 'overkill' . They have patented and twisted the genetics of life, itself, for monopolistic domination of our food.

Our wishes and fears are manipulated to suck out the last vestige of wealth and energy, our ambition twisted to cast out reason in the pursuit of our passions. Our faith in all that is holy held to the cold breast of Commerce. Our innate attraction to music and love for the mystical effect of melody is bent to the purposes of pavlovian conditioned reflex. Hundreds of millions of children are conditioned to want chocolate breakfast cereal and candy vitamins. A five-minute sound byte drives us to enlist in wars of conquest, spilling the blood of our children for the profit of the undead monsters who have attached like leeches.
If the centralized power of economic coercion weren't enough, these corporate zombies have been endowed with free speech with which to prosper those who, in the disguise of patriots, impose yet more conformity, irrationality and passionate adherence to the rule of the undead, to get everyone marching in a vast regimented army of soulless and unreasoned automatons devoid of the compassion they espouse, condemning the empathy which could give light to their blind devotion. And these undead legal persons can deduct all their political contributions from their taxes as a business expense-- forcing those they victimize to pay for their own extortion, enslavement, and to relinquish the freedoms for which they have lived, labored and died.
Who are these zombies, who are these ghouls which never die and only gain and grow and dispossess us generation after generation? Who are these undead legal persons for whom we go to war, killing the unfortunate poor of other nations who stand between our masters and their country's own natural resources and sending our children to be maimed and to die?
They are the corporate persons created by the Railway Magnates who ran the Supreme Court by their own set of rules in the late 1800's. A legal theory concocted by a court clerk, never enacted in law except as a doctrine enabling the transformation of the Fourteenth Amendment, which protected freed slaves, to the endowment of corporations with all the rights of a citizen, and, as Ambrose Bierce said, "..none of the responsibilities.."
Can a free people live under the rule of a parasitic undead? Can a Democracy prosper when economic coercion, political propaganda, and mass media conspire to bend the truth to benefit extortion and hold the people hostage to their needs?
