It's time for the American people to conduct an aggressive search for a new president; one like no other we've had in recent times. Somewhere out there in America there is a person, a man or woman, who has the leadership skills and the courage to deal with the deadly effects of our collapsing economy, perpetual, costly wars and a completely corrupted political system.

The job description calls for a person who has no fear of the power, influence and financial might of the establishment that currently rules Washington; one who cannot be corrupted nor compromised. This new style president must possess the unique qualities and skills that would enable him or her to communicate directly with the American people in a way that would energize and motivate them to fully support strong programs and initiatives designed to restore stability to this nation.

But we already have President Obama and he wants a second term, shouldn't he be re-nominated? No, he must not because he has been tested and observed for two years and it is clear that he does have the attributes called for in this job description. We need someone who will not cave in to the military, Wall Street, the health insurance industry, or the GOP; a person who will lead, not follow. We need a president who knows how to facilitate peace with other nations, not one who uses the military to control and dominate.

America is a nation on financial life support. If this nation were a person, it would be unemployed, unable to make credit card payments, would be losing health insurance, on the verge of bankruptcy, with a home in foreclosure, and soon to become homeless. America is being kept alive by running the overheated printing presses in the Treasury Department non-stop, and groveling at the feet of China for billions more in loans that cannot be repaid.

It is hard for me to believe that in this nation of some 307 million people that we do not have a person with the qualities necessary to take this nation down a completely new path and away from the destructive one we are now following. There are patriotic persons of the highest degree of integrity and ethics out there, but to convince them to enter this poisonous political system is a major problem and impediment to our objective.

While finding the right candidate will be a monumental challenge it can be done. However, once our search has been successful and we have selected the person who fits the requirements -- one who will take on this great challenge -- the first obstacle will have been overcome. Just think about a series of Democratic presidential debates and what might happen. Mr. Obama would portray himself in the same way he did in 2008; an agent of real change, a man of peace (What?), a man who loves bipartisanship and compromise.

But, this time it will no longer work, for America has seen and heard enough of empty promises. All we need is that viable candidate who comes across as someone who the people of America can fully trust, one who is not just a clever political operative, one who can present and clearly articulate a specific set of programs to address America's critical problems, such as set forth in the following:

1. End the Wars, dramatically reduce U.S. worldwide bases, bring the troops home.

2. Rebuild America's infrastructure -- thereby creating new jobs.

3. Create a new American industrial sector, a green economy and millions of new jobs.

4. Overhaul health care reform -- add the public option or a single payer system.

5. End the reliance on petroleum imports, develop new alternate sources of energy.

6. Establish workable, effective, reforms in the financial sector;  no more bailouts.

Sure, this is the same list that I've referenced numerous times; but it bears repeating since we must keep hammering on the need to implement these kinds of programs and initiatives. You've no doubt heard that the most important part of getting something done is -- to start. What we don't need in this time of crisis is: to watch helplessly, only react, whine, moan and vacillate. What we need is to be proactive, creative, innovative, and supportive. But we must have new leadership before these things can happen.

While these new directions may be imperative for America's future, how in the world can a new, independent thinking president make this happen when entering a system so very corrupted and controlled by money, power and influence; where obstructionism and divisiveness have become the norm? The minute this new president would take office, the power brokers would immediately appear to pressure, influence and control the agenda; but a new-style president would not allow it.
