Guns Not Necessary In Tunisia or Egypt

To all the cowboys and girls who argue that that guns are necessary to rebel against dictators, I wonder what you have to say about what appear to be successful revolutions in Egypt and Tunisia without guns.

One might even consider that if there were weapons in use it might bring out the police and the military and help the Dictators to have an excuse to use the military and police resources. 

Now, it appears that the military and police are not fully helping the dictators in Tunisia and Egypt. Perhaps the absence of gun violence makes it easier for them to hold back. Perhaps, if idiots firing guns were amongst the protesters, the outcomes would be very different. 

These protests show that the claims of the need for weapons to fight authoritarian threats have, at least, some major  holes. 

OK. That's my take. I expect some lively discussion.
