Most of the people residing in Bajaur Agency, tribal areas situated on Pak-Afghan border believe that the US administration has chosen wrong allies for winning the war on terrorism. According to them, officials both in Pakistan and Afghanistan have providing wrong information to the United States. "The aim of the officials is not to win the war against terrorism as they only want to earn dollars as much as possible," they said.
There was a time when the officials of Pakistani government has created the impression that dreaded terrorists have been hiding in the tribal areas and they have persuaded the US officials to pay them money for fighting against them. The US administration has provided huge amount to Pakistan for elimination of terrorists in the tribal areas. But actually Pakistan has played double game as on the one hand they have received dollars from the United States and on the other they have been paid huge amount by the terrorists for giving refuge to them in the tribal areas.
This was the time that terrorists were brought to Bajaur Agency as the army launched an operation against terrorists in Waziristan. Most of the terrorists have crossed into tribal areas after the fall of Taliban government in Afghanistan.
Now Pakistani officials have been trying to install Taliban government in the tribal areas as think that Taliban presence in the tribal areas can stop the advancement of US forces to Pakistan.
It is pathetic to note that Pakistan's President General Pervez Musharraf is a close ally of the United States in the war on terrorism. He said this time and again that good relation with the US is in the interest of Pakistan, but officials of his government have been defying his order.
Terrorists are busy in training the youth in Bajaur Agency, tribal areas for "holy war" against United States and the officials have full knowledge about their activities, but are reluctant to take action against them. Killing of journalist, elder and some officials has evoked anti-Taliban feelings in Bajaur Agency and now the tribesmen have been demanding of the government to flush out terrorists from their areas, but still no action has been taken against them.
Some of the tribal elders said that if the government fails in initiating action against terrorists then they will launch operation against them on their own. They appealed to the United States to help the tribesmen in Bajaur Agency as according to them, the US can also find their target here.
They suggest that the US administration should exert more pressure on Pakistan to be honest in war against terrorism. One thing should be kept in mind that elimination of terrorism is in the interest of the whole world as terrorism has been posing great threat to the very existence of this world. As far as the people of tribal areas are concerned majority of them are with US in war against terrorism. Though there are some people who have been supporting terrorism, but they are criminals and they should be dealt as criminals. The mainstream media should be advised not portray the criminals as heroes of certain community. The criminals are criminals whether they have been living in tribal areas or United States.
