Sans a Charlie Chaplin mustache, I knew I had seen him, and not as a figment of my imagination. I really, truly had seen an earlier incantation of him. Hairline; almost. Facial expression; damned close. Voice and speaking mannerisms; nearly right on. But where . . . where?
Then it hit me!!! Ernie Kovacs and his comediccaricature, character: Percy Dovetonsils. See whether you agree. Click javascript:nicTemp();
The tragedy is that two tragedies are writ large here: Comparatively speaking, few in America have ever heard of Ernie Kovacs, let alone Percy Dovetonsils, and the greatest of all, Senator McConnell is not a comedic caricature of any comedian's imagination. I mean, I'd like to think the plurality of adults in Kentucky saw the humor in the election of McConnell, but then, they also elected Jim Bunning and are on the cusp of electing Rand Paul. Folks in Kentucky obviously cannot discern a joke when they hear and see one.
