|Oil companies insist they're using record profits to explore and develop new oil fields that might help bring down gas prices, but the actual money they spend on exploration is nothing compared with what they spend on stock buybacks and dividends. This may be good news for shareholders but no help to average Americans already making drastic cutbacks to offset the high cost of fuel.|
