It is as if we reported identity theft to the proper authorities and they told us, 'Thank you for reporting this. Unfortunately, the law says that we have to allow the thief to continue to use your credit cards and bank account for two to six years before we can act. At that time you may file another report, but until then you must pay for any debts that they run up.'
