NEW SURVEY: Public Skeptical About Bush's Democracy Crusade

Only 35 percent of the 808 randomly selected respondents said they favored the use of military force to overthrow dictators, and 74 percent, including 60 percent of self-identified Republicans, said the goal of overthrowing the Ba'athist regime in Iraq and installing democracy there was not a good enough reason for going to war. The survey was conducted by Chicago Council on Foreign Relations (CCFR) and the Program on International Policy Attitudes (PIPA) of the University of Maryland.
