Good propaganda is subtle. It doesn't use crude Soviet era jargon like 'Yankee imperialist dog.' It is only effective when it appears to be unbiased. If you overplay your hand, your credibility is gone. Russert gives most viewers a sense that he is asking hard-hitting questions of both sides of a debate. The problem is, he isn't. He hides his agenda behind a mask of pseudo-fairness and pseudo-journalism.
