Zinn describes how a man with casual employment writes him long letters, saying something is wrong with how the country works. Then comes the message: Voting is just the beginning. It takes a concerted group to overcome the difficulties they face as individuals. Without labor strikes and other self-help organizations after FDR was elected, there might have been less action.
