The Riverside County Board of Supervisors Wednesday backed off plans to purchase vote tabulating machines from a company with which it has done business for years to avoid risking spending $562,800 for machines that might not be certified.While the board was almost unanimous in its open affection for electronic voting, a majority sided with Stone, approving his motion and making Sequoia a second offer.
