Four runaway rail cars struck a parked locomotive in east-central Kentucky Monday, causing a fire and chemical release prompting a limited evacuation and orders that others stay indoors. The crash released butyl acetate, a flammable liquid, from a burning tanker car forming a 'toxic cloud.' Two years ago (Jan. 2005) near Aiken SC, a train crash's toxic release killed nine people and injured 250. |
