A strong earthquake struck early Friday in the Pacific near Lima, Peru, the US Geological Survey reported.
The 6.6 temblor hit at 10:48:59 GMT near the coast of central Peru and about 146km south-southeast of Lima. The quake was at a depth of 50km, the USGS said. "No destructive Pacific-wide tsunami threat exists based on historical earthquake and tsunami data," the USGS said. |
