As part of the Obama administration's "Joining Forces" program, First Lady Michelle Obama announced yesterday that the program has received pledges from companies to provide more than 15,000 jobs for military spouses. "We're trying to meet these spouses where they are," she said. "This will make such a huge difference. " When the next set of orders comes in for these families and they have to move across the country, they'll be able to move these jobs with them." President Obama has also pledged to tackle the scourge of veteran unemployment, announcing in February a $6 billion jobs program which, if approved by Congress, will create opportunities for service members returning from Iraq and Afghanistan. |
