Iowans deserve verifiable elections

Are voting machine companies run by evil and inherently untrustworthy people? Are county election officials chomping at the bit to grab memory cards and work election results to their will? I doubt it. But are they human and do they care about the outcome of elections? Absolutely, yes. And could the present system of counting votes tempt even the most ethical person? Again, absolutely, yes. If there has not been significant abuse of the present system, it is only a matter of time before such fraud occurs. Iowans, and all Americans, deserve better.

So let's have a paper trail, but make sure we use it. And let's do everything we can to make sure that the software counting our votes does what is supposed to do, count every vote as the voter intended.
