|A recent Financial Times by Mansoor Ijaz, an American businessman of Pakistani origin, claims Ijaz received a secret memo in May from Admiral Mike Mullen, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, via former US National Security Adviser James Jones and the Pakistani Ambassador Hassain Haqqani. The memo accuses Pakistan's Army chief, Gen. Ashfaq Pervez Kayani, of plotting to bring down the Pakistani government in the aftermath of the Bin Laden assassination. It urges that a new national security team be put in place, which would give the US a green light to conduct military operations on Pakistani soil and to place Pakistan's nuclear assets under a verification regime.|
