Millions of dollars in taxpayer money are being wasted by inefficient, inaccurate or unreliable computer systems that are supposed to be running some of the state's biggest and most important programs, a state legislator said Friday.
Sen. Carol Roessler (R-Oshkosh), co-chairwoman of the Joint Audit Committee, made the charge in calling for a massive audit by the Legislative Audit Bureau to find out why some of the state's information technology programs are so costly and unworkable. "What's happening now is that our whole information technology system is inefficient, too costly, is subject to cost overruns, and there is no accountability," she said. "We are looking at huge increases in dollars even before some of these programs are done." |
