| Reid cut a deal with McConnell that repudiated progressive senators efforts. Seems to me that Reid put some fancy ribbons on sh*t and basically did what Obama and the Democrats have been doing-- making a small change that will satisfy liberals-- bur really maintaining the status quo-- a senate that can now continue to make excuses on why they can't, or really, WON'T, pass substantive legislation. The senators that Merkley mentioned-- the bluedogs who blocked the strong reforms Merkley was advocating-- they should be primaried and replaced. Finally, LIeberman is gone. It would be great to see Reid replaced as the leader of the Democrats too. There are some real democrats who care more about liberal and progressive values than maintaining the institutionalized bullshit that Reid felt was more important to protect. |
