Recently I decided to reread and re-listen to the wonderful works of the dedicated and brilliant Mr. Terence McKenna, whose penetrating mind still calls to us more clearly than that of a great deal of people yet living.
His fiercely shining intellect was snuffed out 12 years ago by terminal cancer. It was a terrible loss for mankind: a voice of reason, a pioneering man of science unfettered by the dogma that pervades present day Science. It is well known that scientific work requires a patron, lucre, and contemporary solutions to this problem are nearly always provided by either Big Business or the Government. How often since the turn of the twentieth century do we see a pioneer of Science anymore? You can probably count them on your fingers. Yet somehow Terence became his own fundsman, and pursued Science and Mind on his own terms. Much of what he said is applicable right now. For instance, a quote from the audio lecture I was just listening to at breakfast:
"I for years had a fantasy speech which I always imagined that I would somehow end up giving but it's the speech where you say "My fellow Americans, you have been lied to, screwed and abused by these two criminal parties for... a hundred years! And your only hope is to overthrow the Republicrats and create a decent world to live in." Well, no Republican can make that speech. No Democrat can make that speech and be credible - it has to be somebody who wasn't in bed with either of those forces. So I'm not at all pleased..."

That was twenty years ago, nine years before 9/11. How much longer can the American people play the total fool? How much more obvious can American Fascism become before enough people awaken? Are they really that good at brainwashing people? Or have we become apathetic due to the stultifying effects of poverty - poor diet, exhaustion, depression, despair?
Most Americans are fully aware that the Government is almost always lying to them. But! They either don't think that there is any possibility of their changing this eternally prevaricating Duopoly, or they have come to believe that Government has always lied and been evil, and is meant to be so, in the natural order of Life.
SO! here we are! The words of men of genius long gone still ring in our ears, and we are equipped with all the knowledge needed to extract ourself from the filthy ways of the present. Now we only want for action. I call for good people to stand up, to come forward, and to demand our world back from the great Pirates.
