With America having nearly 20 times as many mass-murders by shootings than any other industrialized country, we know that the system is broken.
Yet there is no leadership. There are few men or women with backbone to stand up against the NRA and manufacturers of weapons to commit mass murder. Worse, the culture of training so many young people to go off to war is backfiring--leading to military imitations and mass-murder role-models using unbelievable shooting precision while wearing battle fatigues--as was the case in Newtown's elementary school massacre yesterday.
Here is what America will recall about the Obama administrations first 4 years.
-Lanza's (the mass child killer in Newton Connecticut Elementary) rifle was similar to a weapon widely used by troops in Afghanistan and Iraq.
-In his nearly four years in office, Obama has not pressed for expanded gun control. But he did allude Friday to a desire to have politicians put aside their differences to deal with ways to prevent future shootings.
-Obama's fourth year in office oversaw the deadliest year for gun-violence in USA history.

Bloomberg, who has been a vocal advocate for gun control, issued an exasperated statement after the president's speech after the mass-murders in Newtown, on the one hand "President Obama rightly sent his heartfelt condolences to the families in Newtown,...But the country needs him to send a bill to Congress to fix this problem. Calling for "meaningful action' is not enough. We need immediate action."
