Why there may still be hope to rescue free speech

The original Constitution can be used to topple any bad laws.

::::::::

In the words of one of the ACLU attorneys I talked with after she had given a presentation:

"There is still the mechanism of the original Constitution in place".

Which is echoed by another attorney (not with the ACLU), who said:

"The original Constitution can be used to topple any bad laws".

 So, my friends.....

For those of us who despair, who say that "we have no rights left", "the Bill of Rights has been canceled", etc, it's the other way around.

The Bill of Rights trumps any laws which violate it. THOSE other laws have been blacked out! Since long ago, too.

We've got to get that straight in our own heads. Because attitude is everything when arguing in court, should it come down to that.

1) I think it's time for massive class action lawsuits against Congress, accompanied by demands that the Patriot Act and Military Commissions Act be repealed. It's OUR free speech and OUR safety which are at stake, while we are handed the bill for such abuse of us, ourselves. Ludicrous!

And it's time for massive class action lawsuits against the police who have violated our free speech in a violent way! It's not only the journalists who were violated in their right to report, it is not only the protestors who were violated in their right to petition the government for a redress of grievances: It is OUR free speech too which is under attack. And we must sue for that cause.

Toppling the Patriot Act is numero uno: Don't forget that or get side-tracked from that core cause!

2) It's time for civilian watchdog groups against government crime.

3) Time for massive strikes www.votestrike.com

It's time for us to STEP UP, not slow down, the photojournalism and post like mad to the Web!

Time to submit news tips of Tianenmen Square-like free speech abuses right here in America, to newspapers overseas. After all, many Americans get their news from international sources. PLUS post to American websites!

Time to shower the light of truth about the thugs who are quaking in their boots for fear of being discovered in their act.

As Goethe said:

"Let the dogs bark. They are barking because you are riding" (your horse).

I am not pretending that we aren't up against huge forces. I am not pretending that they will honor the rule of law. In fact, I will take my statement one step further: We are fighting a virtual war for our freedom. The war being initiated in a violent way, that is, by the government. We the people have frankly been doing our part peacefully, all along. At least, that is true of probably anybody reading this forum.

But WE must honor the rule of law. WE must do OUR part. To focus on ourselves (instead of on "them" and all "their" wrong-doings), and keep the action local not global, is key to dismantling the rogue system. If WE defend the rule of law, using it while it still exists, WE can work together to operate on the cancer which is overtaking our society.

Money talks. STRIKES! CLASS ACTION LAWSUITS! GET THEM ROLLING! HERE WE COME! 300 million people sure as hell outnumber 535 Congress members, the police forces and the military combined. True? Let's drain their funds dry and see how fast they fold!

YES there are judges left who still are on our side. NO the courts are not comprised ENTIRELY by judges working for "The other side". Otherwise, the ACLU and Center for Constitutional Rights could not have scored the major wins they did in getting parts of the Patriot Act and torture bill struck down in court. So we have to replace our thinking with a balanced view: Yes many judges are against us and yes the courts are stacked, but no that does not mean all or even half the judges are against us. Okay maybe half. But that still leaves the other half who are for us. Even 25% leaves us with some hope. Watch out for cognitive distortions in our heads! They will do nothing but discourage us and hold us down! Things are *not* black and white! There *are* shades of grey! Why sacrifice American freedom, sum total, for the sake of lies and distortions coming from the brain? Keep the perspective, keep the faith, and let's go for it!

This quote summarizes the nature of my concerns and the content of personal experiences which stir my activism:

"Necessity is the plea for every infringement on human freedom. It is the argument of tyrants; it is the creed of slaves". --Paul (more...)
