Australia's government released some stunning information showing that global warming will basically destroy the nation. What will the rest of the world do to help them? Will our Congress and presidential candidates bother to acknowledge the high risks for the Australians? The likely answer is no to both questions. This puts Australia out front in the battle to save a livable habitat for the human species. :::::::: This is simply unbelievable. Australia faces a 10 fold increase in heat waves. They're in the sixth year of one right now. And they have a "plague of locusts." Unless radical action is taken quickly, this means "the eventual destruction of sites including the Great Barrier Reef --- and the nation's food bowl ---" Little or no food for an entire CONTINENT, cyclones like the recent one in Burma, 95% of the country subject to frequent heat waves, The Australians just elected Kevin Rudd as P.M. He ran on a strong environmental platform so at least their leadership is aware and ready to act. Will our members of Congress even read about this? Could they understand what it means if they did? Which presidential candidate will be the first to comment or will they ELECTIONS MAKE A DIFFERENCE!!! What if Rudd had lost in one of those "close elections" decided at the last minute? This information was released just before the G-8 Conference in Tokyo. The United States and Canada are laying back with no major proposals and the rest of the world is waiting for a new President of the United States. I wonder how the Australians will take to the world fiddling when they're about to burn?
