2. Since 1950, US taxpayer have provided more than three billion dollars for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), whose camps offer safe haven to terrorist activities and perpetuate the refugee problem. US congressmen are urging reform in the UN body that deals exclusively with Palestinian refugees and their descendants, and calling for alternative solutions to the deliberate containment of a people group in foul and rundown camps. Congressman Eliot Engel (D-New York) said last week Palestinian refugees have been used as political pawns for 60 years by people who don't want peace in the Middle East. He accused the UN of being part of the conspiracy and rightly pointed out that instead of resettling them, UNRWA keeps them in the camps. “And the Arab nations want them in refugee camps in order to perpetuate political hatred against Israel," said Engel. A recent report from the Global Research in International Affairs (GLORIA) said UNRWA actually helps to promote terrorism and holds Palestinians back from rebuilding their lives. It charged UNRWA schools with becoming hotbeds of anti-Western, anti-American, and antisemitic indoctrination and recruiting offices for terrorist groups. It said also UNWRA facilities are used to store and transport weapons, actually serving as terrorist military bases. (Sources: J.Post/GLORIA/IHC)
