Nancy Pelosi has chosen her party's future over the Constitution by continuing to keep impeachment at bay - unfortunately, this will most likely cost us both the party and the Constitution. :::::::: While many once feared impeachment proceedings would appear partisan, Speaker Pelosi makes clear that her decision to keep "impeachment off the table" is directly related to promoting the Democratic Party and nothing to do with protecting the American people or our Constitution. What is more partisan than that? Pelosi's recent response to the suggestion of impeachment was that "President Bush is not worth it," and that impeachment would distract from the work of the Democrats, work that would "ensure the party's future political victory." I was born and bred to be a Democrat. Probably the worst sin I could have committed as a teen would have been to run off and join the Young Republicans. But, I was raised to question authority and in the process of recent questioning, I came to learn that I care deeply about the foundation of this country. Suddenly, I stopped seeing things through the eyes of a Democrat and started seeing them through the eyes of a Patriot. Nancy Pelosi took an oath to protect the Constitution, not the Democratic party. Her decision early on to take impeachment "off the table," has put her in the position where last week she actually threatened to sue the President if he decided to whip out the ole signing statement pen. Suddenly, she is concerned about those pesky signing statements. Remember the ones that allowed for an ex-frat boy to determine what constitutes torture? The signing statements that allowed him to label any one of us an enemy combatant thereby stripping us of our civil liberties? Signing statements that prevented an honest investigation of 9 billion in missing war funds? Nope, Speaker Pelosi decided to let those slide along with all the other impeachable offenses cuz, well, it might hurt the party. Nancy, the party is over! The Constitution belongs to us. It's time we support those who put the Constitution before their party. Screw winning in 2008. If this is the way it's going to be, I don't want a Democratic Congress or a Democratic President if they are not going to protect my Constitution. There, I said it. Now please, just don't tell my dad.
