Chavez's undiplomatic speech has been widely condemned, but it does carry a meaningful message for Americans.

::::::::

Chavez's U.N. barrage against President Bush to the cheers of many delegates and lack of protest from others demonstrates how badly worldwide respect for the United States has fallen during the Bush presidency. Bush's neo-con policies of preemptive war and corporate exploitation have generated fear, hatred and ridicule in the hearts of global citizens. With the loss of so much good will, this new century cannot belong to America. To get back on track, Americans must put the brakes on the Bush 'movement' by voting out his Republican rubber-stamp Congress this November.

Dan Merica is a political cartoonist and opinion writer battling the right wing scourge now devastating our country. His work is posted on his website, www.cartoons-political.com.
