WHAT DOES THE RIGHT MEAN ANYWAY? WHAT SHOULD THEY BE TALKING ABOUT? WHY DON'T WE UNDERSTAND THEM?::::::::
Sarah Palin won't be elected because the bulk of right-wing votes come from idiots, and thanks to evolution and the age of computers; idiots are on the decline. The functional wing of the Republican Party is composed of all the Fat Cats who profit from unregulated investment practices which liberate the billionaires to do what they want to become richer. By definition, they are in the extreme minority; and have only survived so far by rigging elections and pandering shamelessly to a constituency with whom they wouldn't dream of sharing a weekend, (without a flask in their pocket in any event) much less really concern themselves with their mundane problems. I call it the Cynics/Simpletons Equation; and I reckon it amounts to 3/97 % respectively.
While these self-serving policies prevail, to the extent that they serve the People by providing jobs for example, the Party of Management remains in favor because they say all the right things to content shlubs who don't even read the papers or watch anything but Fox. Of course it is their sons and daughters whom we lead to slaughter in the process of ripping them off, but they don't seem to realize that. They don't seem to realize much in fact, and that is their strength to the Right. They will believe anything anybody says, who simultaneously reassures them that small-minded short-sighted thinking is profitable to them. But the GOP consistently shots itself in the foot underestimating the intelligence of us all.
This time though, as it all devolved into extortion, and the People are now paying for the crimes of the few; and Thanks to the curious and literary who scurry for facts in the racy atmosphere of the internet; it all slowly comes to light and finally they start to lose elections, wherever the People start feeling the results of their greed when they become too glaring to ignore.
Sarah Palin won't make it, because though The GOP may need the fools' votes, the rate of communication in the world is so rampant and three dimensional, that nobody can get away with anything any more for even a day; and even the deaf dumb and blind will eventually refuse to believe that Bad is Good and Wrong is Right.
And as far as the mostly elite Fat Cats are concerned, (the 3% Cynics) it becomes more and more difficult, in light of the marginal intelligence and wit being displayed by their yeomen of late, to disassociate themselves from those fools who continue to cleave to the Right, waiting for the fulfillment of promises it becomes increasingly clear will never be delivered; i.e.: Prison to Gays and Abortionists, Prayer and Creationism in the schools, and No More Taxes.
There they are, swinging their banners strewn for some reason with Swastikas; as loony and lost as ever; shouting to the wind and anyone with the patience to listen; that they are angry and betrayed.
And you know, they have been betrayed. They have been left in the dust by the Big Boys who can't use them anymore because they‘re too crazy, and there aren‘t enough of them. Those that persist can meet in tents and dip and exorcize one another all they want; but they can't shake off their direst curse: Ignorance. It takes time and reason to do that.
Luckily in time, ignorance falls away all by itself, and the Cynic/Simpleton Equation is changing every day. By the time Sarah Palin has a chance to run, it will have dwindled to a trickle, this formerly sheep-like dependable legion of the uninformed. The GOP will implode, just as the Economy of the Damned did, the one that blossomed around them during their last good-will tour in Washington.
What the GOP needs is to find its feet. There is a hollow derisive ring to their rhetoric, usually it's name calling or character assassination in some form. But there is a counter-paradigm to the Democratic Dream of Peace and Plenty through sharing that is not being explored much nor expressed as anything but rage. The extent to which the Federal Government should literally control the machinations of a Centralized program is the question, and the GOP should stress the State's Responsibility to provide for the immediate needs of its inhabitants; if for no other reason than convenience. That is the Republican Way.
That they may act in response to Federal mandate is beside the point. That seems to be the real meat of their message concerning the Health Care Controversy. The fact that the States have failed in respect to health care is illustratable. Why is no one suggesting that they do so? That is the Republican Way.
Each state should balance its own budget, allowing ten percent to flow on to the National Kitty for Defense, Congress, (severely paired down as legislation concerning all but International matters should be reserved for the States) and the Judiciary. That is the Republican Way.
Each State should have jurisdiction of all the actions within its borders. Already, there are differences in Education from State to State, which are interesting and perhaps appropriate, or objectionable. People can leave and go live in another State, if they don't like it. Or, seeing the improved situation in another state, due to the implementation of a program; emulate them. That is the Republican Way.
It may be that little girls' dolls dressed like whores, drugs on every corner, alcohol taking a terrible toll in lives and families, is enough of an emergency to allow a State to become dry if they want to, and with zero tolerance for drugs, alcohol, rude language, inappropriate literature and games for children, and questionable morals plastered on every billboard and daytime TV show. I think it would be interesting to see more dire punishment imposed for crimes that affect the moral tenor of a City or State. The bankrupt display of sexuality and violence in our and our children's entertainment is horrific. In response to the neglectful parenting implied, our children are shooting each other down in the streets of our cities at a greater rate than our soldiers are falling in the whole Middle East.
We are so afraid to take away people's rights; we are falling to the level of least common denominator. I would prefer to live in a place that banned all violent displays from television. That is the Republican Way. And guns do NOT kill people. People do. That is the Republican Way. Guns sold to parents however, should be regulated to the extent that a home visit is required to assure the Dealer that a safe childproof place exists and is used by the purchaser. Bear in mind, few progressives own guns; so it is Conservative children who are dying from firearms accidents; and since they are in the decline in general, this should concern all Republicans.
In all concerns, The GOP should put its energy to the “Small is Beautiful” concept of Government. That is what they mouth, but then they start wars to fill the pockets of their supporters and lose their way in a genuine conflict of interest, if one is to believe their protestations that all Democrats do is tax and spend. So far, nobody is better at bankrupting the National Treasury than they. They bow out (don't even try to suggest McCain was really running for anything) when the till runs dry and let the Democrats fill it up again. They'll be back, but this time it will take a while, both to fill the coffers and to forget how it got so empty.
Once the states start distinguishing themselves from one another in Education, Health Care, Highway and Infrastructure, Police organization, etc; the country will reawaken to its original premise, instead of congealing into a mega-bureaucracy that WILL in fact deprive the country of its hardy self-reliant and essentially Competitive nature; the one all Republicans seem to yearn for if we are to take them seriously, and it is rather Romantic at its base, though of late poorly interpreted for the masses. It has nothing to do with Hitler; it has to do with size.
Our lovely new President has enough to do interfacing with the rest of the World, the rest is up to the States. Then the question remains, shall they? Or, when they fail to do so, as with Health Care, in defense of the People who are dying in enough numbers to at least hint of Holocaust, shall the Feds take over? Make us proud, States. Clean up your acts and take care of business. That is the Republican Way. Or could be.
