The banks restrained credit to build up tremendous cash reserves. In essence they used taxpayer money garnered at zero percent interest to pursue other profit-making possibilities. The taxpayers assumed all the risks while the banks raked in the profits. During the Great Depression wealthy institutions and individuals hoarded cash until prices declined. This is the basis of the net worth inequities of today.

We Have Entered a New Dark Age

Characteristic of a Dark Age are death, famine, pestilence and war. Of course, we have adapted to the modern. We drown investigative journalists in Holiday Inn bathtubs. Lynchlng census takers, we decorate the corpse with a magic marker. There is such enthusiasm for war we don't require a reason to start one. Fear, intimidation and ignorance triumph.

Public and private officials have subverted and prostituted traditional American institutions and values. The latest criminal scam began in the financial sector. Deregulation allowed bankers to enter the insurance, hedge fund and financial service industries. They initiated all manner of fraudulent credit instruments. For quick profits they doomed investors and home owners to bankruptcy. They built up stock market and housing prices to an unsustainable level forming financial bubbles. When the bubbles burst, millions of citizens faced ruin. Consequently, retail sales crumbled, small businesses failed and unemployment soared.

To counter the economic crisis, the banks demanded bail-outs to avert catastrophe. They would use the funds to restore credit for consumers and small business to encourage employment.

Instead, the banks restrained credit to build up tremendous cash reserves. In essence they used taxpayer money garnered at zero percent interest to pursue other profit-making possibilities. The taxpayers assumed all the risks while the banks raked in the profits.

Thirty GOP Senators Voted in Favor of Gang Rape

The alarm bells should go off for everyone not just Jews. Yet, only Jon Stewart objected. [I searched my G-mail and found no further interest.] Although I included three YouTubes with a quicklink, I received no comments from OEN members.
Apparently, the US public doesn't mind being raped by KBR and the GOP. You may be right that everyone is the same.
Life is YouPorn.

On the Eve of Destruction Life Becomes More Rewarding

In pre-WWII Europe the arts flourished, the quality of writing increased and music was everywhere. The population rushed to the lecture halls and enjoyed vacations in the mountains and the seashore. The summer of 1940 saw Londoners emerge from the bomb shelters every morning. The tempo of life increased remarkably with the threat of destruction. America enjoyed a revival especially in music in the Summer of 1941. There was urgency in the debates on issues of the time. Many people behaved as if they were living on borrowed time.
On Independence Day Israelis danced in the streets. The next morning we were attacked by 22 nations. Ever since, Israelis have lived on the Eve of Destruction. The tempo of intellectual and social life is intense and fantastic more than any other place on Earth.
Our new movie "Ajami" explores the human soul most deeply. It is about Israeli Christians and Muslims at a level rarely attained in the west. Compare it to "City of Gold" and "Pulp Fiction."
We have come to terms with the End of Days and universal death.

Never Say Never

I have much respect for Wendell Potter. However, he errs when he says we can't try insurance executives for murder. All the time they defraud policy holders with mythical pre-existing conditions, by arbitrarily canceling insurance after the first claim, by raising rates until they become unaffordable or by delaying payment until the insured dies. The executives cause wrongful deaths.
When a wrongful death occurs in the course of a Class "A" Felony [fraud in this case], it becomes First Degree Murder.
Unfortunately, US judges and prosecutors are reluctant to execute white people with a job that requires a business. Perhaps, we can replace the Republican-appointed DOJ lawyers.
If we manage to execute salaried personnel, the hourly workers can implement the single payer Medicare for All program.
My article describing this suggestion has been with the editors some time. This might work in other industries. Demonstrations are fine, but there is nothing like the death penalty to bring action.

The Entertainer as Witness

They say to invite a Jew to a party to be amusing. They also advise never to invite two Jews, who will fall into argument and ruin the party.
A friend invited me to his home where GOP insiders would discuss the selection of a candidate. It was totally unlike what I had expected. There was no hucksterism of the kind they handed the public. Ideology meant nothing. They could have been comparing cuts of meat. Who was more acceptable to the public? Who would offend the least number of people? Who could be controlled?

FOX Appeals to Ignorance to Be Twice as Popular than msnbc

FOX specializes in character assassination especially in the new administration. They disperse propaganda against the Democratic programs, which have fallen one by one. FOX has captured the Republican ideology. The special interests subvert the Congress through bribery. They succeed by using guilt by association and by relying upon public ignorance and racism.
MSNBC tries to uplift the public mentality to understand the measures suggested by some Democrats to attack the nation's ills. Unfortunately, the msnbc broadcasters sound like school teachers never popular on TV.

MSNBC Offers the Only Fact-Based Political Report on US TV

MSNBC presents news in the context of recent events. Watching it, the viewer can get behind the issues to understand what is going on. Viewers of US MSM rarely understand reality and the woes in the USA reflect this ignorance.
The BBC and Aljazeera also work with objectivity unknown in the USA.

The Dumbing Down May Continue

Thirty GOP Senators supported the KBR employees who gang raped a colleague. Single payer health insurance serves 18 industrialized countries at half the cost of the US experience. As the Senate ignores this, the public doesn't protest this. Few Americans understand how the government worked a Ponzi scheme to sink the economy into recession.
It has taken three generations to devastate the American mentality. Are we willing to fund education for another three generations to uplift the dullards?

Born a month before Pearl Harbor, I attended world events from an early age. My first words included Mussolini, Patton, Sahara and Patton. At age three I was a regular listener to Lowell Thomas.
My mom was an industrial nurse a member of the (more...)
