Right-wing conservative radio talk show host, Erich "Mancow" Muller, changes his tune about whether waterboarding is torture .... after he is waterboarded. ::::::::
GRODIN: You're for torture.
HANNITY: I am for enhanced interrogation.
GRODIN: You don't believe it's torture. Have you ever been waterboarded?
HANNITY: No, but Ollie North has.
GRODIN: Would you consent to be waterboarded? We can waterboard you?
HANNITY: Sure.
GRODIN: Are you busy on Sunday?
HANNITY: I'll do it for charity. I'll let you do it. I'll do it for the troops' families.
Days later Keith Olbermann, from MSNBC, seized upon Sean Hannity's statement and issued the challenge, $1,000 to the families of U.S. troops for every second Hannity withstood the technique. Olbermann continued to issue the challenge periodically on his show. Sean Hannity and the FOX news network have been silent in their response to the challenge. Hannity has repeatedly said on his show in the past that water boarding is a fair and necessary interrogation technique for suspected terrorists. Olbermann has consistently voiced his opposition to the practice and has called it torture and said that it is ineffective at producing actionable intelligence.
Last Friday right-wing radio talk show host Erich "Mancow" Muller was waterboarded and after 6 seconds changed his tune about whether or not it is torture. Keith Olbermann donated $10,000 to Mancow's charity of choice, Veterans of Valor, for having the guts to do what Sean Hannity did not have the guts to do. The YouTube video below courtesy of TheYoungTurks.com sums up the saga with the unexpected admission that waterboarding is indeed torture.
Eric Nelson is freelance writer, an editor at OpEdNews, and a spiritual progressive from Minnesota who has become more politically active. The reasons for this should be obvious to most; rising poverty, a broken health care system, and a growing (more...)
