Shh- don't tell anybody. Since the Korean War, we as a nation have decided that the Constitutional provision that only congress shall have the authority to declare war is obsolete. What an opportunity for President Obama, Doctor of Laws, to take us back to strict constructionism. :::::::: President Barack Obama The White House Fax #202 456-2461 Dear President Obama, I write to Dr Obama, the Constitutional scholar. The power to declare war was given by the Founding Fathers solely to Congress. They knew the danger of secret wars, of unpopular wars. They knew the temptation of the Commander in Chief to consolidate his power by waging war when it wasn’t absolutely necessary. I am asking you to do the honest and legal thing, to ask Congress whether we are at war with Iraq and Afghanistan, and to abide by their decision. Yours, Josh Mitteldorf
