Personal reminiscing about the nonsense of Mormonism which I accepted until I was about 47 years old,

::::::::

“THE GLORY OF GOD IS INTELLIGENCE”

“MY…… GLORY IS TO BRING TO PASS THE IMMORTALITY AND ETERNAL LFE OF MAN”

“MAN IS THAT HE MIGHT HAVE JOY!” Popular Mormon axioms

According to Biblical texts man is made after the image of and in the likeness of God. As a result, monotheists have conceived an image of God as an old bearded man walking the heavens wearing Middle Eastern attire. Truth is there is no reliable image of God as making graven images was prohibited by the Ten Commandments.

In standard Christian view, God is generally portrayed in the supposed likeness of Jesus Christ primarily because of the Immaculate Conception doctrine where God caused His seed to be implanted in the womb of the Virgin Mary. In this way it could be said that Christ was a look alike clone of God. No true image of Christ exists only artist’s concepts. There is no empirical evidence that God is a man or is in the likeness of Man. Perhaps man’s ego is the primary factor in the persistence of that belief.

While the official name of Mormon Church’s is the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, The church view of God is not standard Christianity.  That view states that God (once mortal--now immortal) made an earthly visit and had physical sex with the Virgin Mary who at the time was betrothed to a Jewish carpenter named Joseph. Since Both Mormon and Christian viewpoints as to the genealogy of Jesus trace his lineage back to King David through Joseph, Joseph was at best a surrogate father and was, in Mormon view, upstaged by a physical act of God impregnating the woman he was betrothed to. The possibility of course exists that old Joseph got a little ahead of himself and impregnated Mary before the wedding and the God story was made up to cover that screw-up ( If in fact there is any truth whatever to the story!).

Regardless of how we look at it, sexuality was obviously present in the story of the conception and birth of Christ (immaculate or carnal), the sexuality of Mary, Joseph and of course God. So both Heaven (spiritual) and earth (physical) are scenes in which we have to consider sex as a basic reality. In this reality, human life cannot exist on earth without an act of sexual copulation between a woman and a man whether it is the Patriarch God or a mortal man. Modern science has somewhat modified that so that the act of copulation is not actually required as for example in in vitro fertilization, but for the most part the ages old method remains intact.

Again, in the Mormon view, no person has been born on earth as a mortal who has not previously been born in the heavens first as a spirit offspring of God.  That is to say that even Jesus Christ was born in the spirit in the same form as he was born in the flesh and by the same means. In fact church doctrine states that the title of being the “First Born” implies being the first born in the spirit prior to being the first (and only) born of God in the flesh. Every person from Adam on down to the present had a pr-existent life as a spirit on a planet often referred to as “Kolob”.

Rooted in the idea of a plurality of Goddess wives is that God had physical sexual intercourse with each of them in order to produce those untold millions of spirit bodies. It was not a matter of waving a magic wand.

This distinction is critical in understanding the Mormon Church position on matters of sexual behavior of its members and consequently the negative attitude toward homosexuality that exists within the church membership and its world view.

At this point some definitions are appropriate.

Phalli, Phallic:  1. Relating to or resembling a phallus 2. (Psycho.) Denoting the stage of male sexual development characterized by a preoccupation of the genitals.

Phallocentric, Phallocentricity, Phallocentrism:  Centered on the Phallus or male                sexual attitudes.

Phallus, Phallicism, Phallism: 1- The erect penis  2. An image (icon) of this as a symbol of generative power in nature.

All things considered, phallicism is the major icon of the Mormon Church consciously or unconsciously whether it be with the colonial church steeples it shares with other denominations or the masculine/feministic steeples that adorn its special structures, the Temples. Strip all doctrines, beliefs or practices away what we have left is Phallocentricity. It is a connection to the uniquely Phallic Mormon God.

Of course God’s phallus is only half of the equation. The other half in Mormon heaven is the female vagina, so the doctrine includes the female as a co-creator of the spirits born in heaven. In order to explain how women came into heaven, the doctrine states that worthy women became immortal Goddesses after death as a result of a past mortal life. Extend that back and the same women were first born as spirit children of another God and Goddess wife before they tasted of mortality at another time and place in eternity. Some where in that we must recognize that there are minor and major Mormon Gods!!

The concept of Father in Heaven has a deeper meaning to Mormons than others. A Mormon hymn asks, “In the heavens are parents single? No the thought makes reason stare! Truth is reason-truth eternal-tells me I’ve a mother there!” and further, “When I leave this frail existence. When I lay this mortal by, Father, Mother, may I greet you in your royal courts on high?”

The question relating to the Mormon concept of a pre-existent life being born as spirit offspring of a God father the same as an earthly birth begs an answer. Logic tells one if it is true (pre-existent spirit life) then of course there is a mother in heaven.

A Mother in Heaven concept is a personal matter to most Mormons. Poems and songs/hymns have been composed by the artistic of the church in honor of that notion.

However logistically it is impossible! It’s all in the numbers.

At the present time there are 6.3 billion people on the earth. Since it is well established that the Old Stone Age was over 10,000 years ago we have to do some calculating to discover how many people have lived on earth since that time. The quick estimate is 106,456,367,669 with a current birth rate of 16,000/hr or 384,000/day or 140,160,000/yr and the end is not in sight!

The Mormon pre-existence story tells of a council in the heavens wherein all those spirits gathered to vote on a plan of progress to mortality. A war ensued over who would lead mortals back to God, Jesus or Satan. As a result Satan’s group was kicked out of heaven and cast to earth. That group consisted of 1/3 of the total who voted which brings up the possible pre-existent spirit body population to 159 plus billion.  Now we are talking about God laying with a plurality of wives one at a time and producing close to 200 billion spirit babies for the planet earth experience!

The mechanics of such production boggles the mind especially in the Mormon concept of polygamy where only one male God physically impregnates a vast array of wives in a never ending circle of production. One would have to assume that exercise would diminish even a god. The other unknown equation is the number of goddess wives needed to keep the line flowing allowing for pregnancy, birthing, recovery and being placed back in what could only be conceived of as a circular assembly line so that production is maintained against all odds.

Without regard to what may be simultaneously happening on the other side of the veil within the jurisdiction of Elohim, God of this world, Mormon elders are preparing members of their flock to become gods and goddesses in the next life through the utilization of earthy structures called temples. This is based upon a doctrine, “As man is God once was-As God now is man may become.”

While there is some argument as to who first made the statement, the doctrine is clearly accurate. Within those temples, marriages for 'time and all eternity' between couples are taking place every hour of every day some where around the globe. This is done to comply with the doctrine that only those who have been married in a temple for time and all eternity may inherit the Celestial Kingdom where they become gods and goddesses with ability to procreate spirit children. There is of course a price to pay to get there!

It is estimated that that the Mormon Church has created well over one million gods and goddesses since its establishment in 1830. It is not known if somewhere in the cosmos those created gods and goddesses have their own spirit breeding mills going preparing to expand the universe with populations who one day may look out into the heavens and wonder if there are other humans living on planets like theirs.

If they are lucky with magnification, they may see all the Mormon temples on the rotating planet earth with phallic spires leaping skyward toward them! A new Genesis!

Absurd? I ask the reader.

Yet based on this thesis, Mormon missionaries some twenty thousand strong, two by two 24/7 (to guard against masturbation) are tramping around the globe daily spreading the good news of this new concept of God and of everlasting joyous sex.

And to think that sixty years ago I actually preached this delusion as a twenty year old Mormon missionary in the UK!

WITH THIS KIND OF MENTALITY ABOUT SEXUAL MATTERS, MORMONS ARE UNQUALIFIED TO TEACH ABOUT SEXUALITY TO ANYBODY!
