On November 4th, our community was attacked. Now I gotta get in your face. They pissed off the wrong group of people. Instead of having gay marriage in California, NO! We're gonna get it across the country. -Wanda Sykes

Gotta love the JoinTheImpact bloggers – it’s a giant group of newsreaders, activists, essayists, artists and citizens-paying-attention to the civil rights struggle of the 21^st Century. JTI keeps me informed on national actions and news events and, most importantly, connects me with my tribe. It recently exposed me to actress and comedienne Wanda Sykes, a hero in California who speaks for all of us when she says:

“On November 4^th… our community was attacked…. We shouldn’t have to be standing out here demanding something that we automatically should have as citizens of this country. But I got pissed off. They pissed me off. And I said, ‘You know what? Now I gotta get in your face.’ They pissed off the wrong group of people.

“They have galvanized the community…. Instead of having gay marriage in California, no – we gonna get it across the country.”

In one of her stand up routines, Sykes segues from porn to marriage equality at about 4 minutes into the below video. “If you don’t believe in same sex marriage, then don’t marry somebody of the same sex.”
