Accusing Israel of war crimes because it responded to Hamas attacks is logically equivalent to outlawing all defensive wars. ::::::::
Civilians die when wars are fought in inhabited areas. If you were to witness the suffering of the Germans and the Japanese when the Second World War was drawing to a close you would have seen much more civilian devastation. But that in no way can be interpreted to mean that Germany and Japan were right to start WWII or to refuse to surrender until so late.
Israel tried harder to limit the civilian casualties than any other nation fighting in similar circumstances. That includes the standards set in WWII and in all more recent urban conflicts.
Israel fought a defensive war instigated by Hamas. Hamas is responsible for drawing Israeli fire to the Gazan civilians by firing thousands of rockets at innocent Israeli civilians. The war Israeli fought was limited in scope and, as it turns out, not even sufficient to stop Hamas. Hamas is still firing rockets at Israel.
Every country has the right to defend itself and it is not morally right to provoke a war from among civilians.
Falsely accusing Israel of war crimes only encourages Hamas to continue provoking Israel and using the Gazan population as human shields.
Accusing Israel of war crimes because it responded to Hamas attacks is logically equivalent to outlawing all defensive wars. By this logic, we should lay down our arms and allow the radical Islamists to take over the world.
