Comment on article against gay marriage by Richard Mouw, Less Shouting, More Talking. ::::::::
I have so many questions. Why do some people refuse to treat gays as normal and let them live their lives they way they want to? Why do people treat gays with such distain and fear? Why does being different in their sexual lives somehow disqualify them from being able to marry each other?
Actually I think it is normal for the anti-gay marriage crowd to be against gay marriage. Humans are naturally leery of other humans who act differently from the average Joe. It is a survival mechanism built into our animal natures. We instinctively get fearful because a 'built-in' survival of the species mechanism. If another human being seems too different, they attract too much attention and can end up at the bottom of the pecking order like chickens do. Chickens peck them to death.
This is not an attractive trait of survival, but humans have it just like chickens do. That is why humans have laws, to protect themselves from each other.
Human animals are born all kinds of ways, with any variation of sexual hormones you could possibly think of. All animals are. Ask a sheep farmer if they have any gay sheep. They have them and they are not happy about it. Either the female sheep do not procreate or their lambs may have depressed immune systems or be still born. The gay males are not interested in the females and do not mate with them. As a rancher or farmer, when you have a lot of problems like this, your livelihood is threatened because you have fewer animals to sell or more illness in your animals. So they kill them and eat them. And they breed the others to increase their flocks.
Should gays be fighting back? Should they be shouting and protesting? They better or they could get pecked to death or worse. They need to band together so people can see how many there are and that they are not that different. And their parents and relatives should stand with them like I do for mine.
It helps to understand that any number of variables in life can create a variation in sex hormones in a human being. It could be exposure of the parents and babies to gender- bending toxins such as heavy metals or dioxins. It could be diet and a combination of inherited genes and toxins. It could be any number of conditions which would vary the sex hormones of X and Y that would make a human more or less masculine or feminine. A slight variation in degree can make the difference in whether a daughter becomes a 'tomboy' or a boy becomes a 'sissy'.
Life is hard for gays, lesbians and transgender people. So they have to try harder to find ways to fit in. Because they have had to overcome many trails and tribulations, many become very powerful, intellectual, creative and important people.
As our world becomes more and more polluted it is possible that more people will be born gay. If humans are to survive they may evolve into a new species, a species tested in the fires of toxins, prejudice, hypocrisy and ignorance. These very people may be the ones to help humanity survive.
