It’s three o’clock in the morning and I’m awake. I can’t sleep knowing I’ll be traveling to Jonesboro, Tennessee to participate in the Mass Mobilization to stop this Senseless War for Oil in Iraq. I don’t know how big the crowd will be in Tennessee but I’m willing to find out. My wife will be accompanying me as we drive the almost three hours up there. We decided to go about Midnight after we finished the radio show.

Something has got to give and pretty soon. I have seen that the next fiscal year could raise the budget for the two wars we are fighting upwards of 1.2 Trillion dollars. Why? What do we hope to gain fighting in Iraq? These people will never trust the US, and will always look at us as a very foreign power occupying them. We are from different religions and our culture is not theirs. They will never embrace us as liberators after we have savaged their country. The best possible scenario is to leave and when we are leaving to repair their infrastructure that we destroyed in the war. Maybe then after we leave they can at least say we didn’t leave their nation in ruins.

The longer we stay, the more we will be despised. Think of your own country and how you would feel if they invaded us and blew up bridges and our water pipes and out electric generating stations and we were left to line up at a hose for hours to get a gallon of water to cook and wash with. Think how you would feel if the groups in this country spit and formed militias vying for power where the occupying power couldn’t enforce the rule of law. How would you feel if a Christian Fundamentalist group told you to leave your house and go somewhere else because you didn’t belong at your home anymore, your neighbors afraid to say anything? Think of your kids working for the resistance blowing up trucks with IED’s or dressing with 50 lbs of explosives to end their lives in a mall so 50 other Americas could die with them. The reason doesn’t matter; you have lost your child in an adult’s war.

That’s why I’m marching today. I have sympathy for the Iraqi people. Everyday we strafe their cities and kill scores of innocent civilians; there are not many “safe places” to be when the military goes out on a night patrol. One sniper could bring the wrath of God in a Strike force that peppers the location with small arms and rocket fire. Collateral damage makes no difference to us as we kill the families living nearby. We have killed over a million Iraqi’s, either by outright use of munitions or by the sectarian violence we caused by disbanding their army and police forces. Olds scores have been settled and the Iraqi people have paid the price,

It’s time for good, moral Americans to try to stop this carnage in Iraq. The way do to it is to attend these rallies. America must know that Americans are sick to death of the “Status Quo”, This is our government, it’s time we made some noise.

I'll report on the Demonstration with photos tonight.
