Almost all the ads run by the Obama Campaign have been candidate-centric. Since before Ohio I have advocated, here and on the Obama Blog, for ads that focus on the PEOPLE in the STATES where Obama is campaigning. I have also tried many times to reach the campaign with this suggestion. Direct, phone, round-about, I even wrote my lobbyist friend and formed colleague Anne Wexler and her husband Joe Duffey, with whom I had a brief and successful writer-candidate relationship in the early 70s, but found NO WAY to reach Davit Wilhelm, whom I respect greatly.
Whatever I did, I hit a bottom-up ceiling. So finally today, since the campaign has just released two more candidate-centric ads, I vented some in the Obama Blog thread where these ads were posted\. Here is the sequence of posts containing my vent and responses. I have removed identities in respect to the privacy of the writers. Maybe THIS will get to someone in the Obama Campaign.

But where are the PEOPLE ads? Common and ordinary people of All Walks of Life saying WHY they are for Barack. Like the union put out in PA. I may not agree with Chris Matthews about much, but I do about this. We need to widen the scope of our ads -- we have some ownership, right -- to include PEOPLE ads. Someone from HQ please heed.

i always like 'people' ads too. real folks saying why they support Obama.
like these too - i hope we'll do both.

Please heed and advertise with our people who are the backbone of this movement. Make it about the people in these states and not just BO.

I couldn't agree more. Put on everyday people. Why they are voting for Barack. Please...
Stephen did you send your suggestion to HQ? If not, please do so. I think this is a good idea as well.

Every time someone suggests this I do it. I have had no luck for MONTHS. It is getting irritating. We are supposed to be porous and to be bottom up. I am bumping my head on a no answer ceiling. I have proposed the same thing since well before Texas and Ohio and PEOPLE ADS would have been PERFECT responses to HC and so forth.
I cannot believe someone who reads here does not know how to get through. I have even made "friends" with folk who are in hq and written to them and no response.
Sorry for the rant but there are limits. I work 24/7 blogging -- using resources I find here to reach a wider audience -- and resources I find out there to alert people here. And I do not make a dime. I have contributed heavily to the campaign and while I am comfortable enough have no salary or pension income.
