Open Discussion Thread: How we can Save our Country from Fascism

A) While the presidential primaries are on the public radar, this is a good time to submit letters to the editor in order to influence public opinion about who to vote for.

If we write our own opinions and "I am voting for so-and-so", that will do no good. Instead, perhaps if we write fact-based matters, such as who voted for what bill and what the concerns are, and who stood on what positive ground to the public service of all, then we will be effective in influencing public opinion--and helping to turn out votes for the right people.

B) This is also a good time to write open letters to the media, Congress, et al.

People are wrong in assuming that Congress won't care:

Politicians have to "Sell" themselves to the public in order to be elected. They have to maintain the public favor in order to stay in public office. Therefore, open letters are bound to affect them politically.

Witness the multiple resignations which are historical in numbers, beyond what our country has ever seen: That's all because scandals are coming to light. So obviously, what the masses think affects politicians plenty. Nobody wants their wrongs exposed to the light of day.

And that is just where We, the PEople *do* have power. We *can* expose their wrong-doings in letters to the editor, on blogs ,etc. And it *will* make a difference *if* the greater masses are reached and concur. The truth has power!

The lone voice will go to the winds: It's true. But there certainly is a strength in numbers. And we must all remember that. If we *all* team up together as a grassroots wave, with the grassroots as powerful as it is now, we can have the impact of a tsunami.

LET'S WRITE LOTS OF OPEN LETTERS TO CONGRESS, THE MEDIA, ET AL AND POST THEM EVERYWHERE, EVERYWHERE! Send them by e-mail and ask friends to pass them on. Write your editors. Hi-ho, hi-ho, it's off to work we go! Democracy----and our children----will thank us.

C) It's time to demand that Constitution-offending Congresspeople step down from public office. First a scathing exposee as open letter to the public and the individual Congressperson, then (as part of that exposee) a demand that they step down, asking for the public to join in with their own demands. We don't have to march in order to be effective: The power of the pen----and the truth-----can be plenty effective.

D) If the Thought Crimes Bill really is passed into law, and if it already is being implemented without the Senate passing it, then it's time to go into another kind of action.

If Government infiltrators are going to spy on our college kids on campus, we can spy right back on them. And report what they are doing to the local editors (if the mainstream news won't touch it) and to the ACLU, the CEnter for Constitutional Rights, etc in order to get lawsuits going.

www.ccr.com or www.centerforconstitutionalrights.com Center for COnstitutional Rights's website

If the Government attacks our free speech because of Internet-related matters, we also can contact the Electronic Frontier Foundation www.eff.org they are quite good.

Based on local violations, we can also ask our County Supervisors and City Councils to make public statements and to pass resolutions against the Thought Crimes Bill.

This quote summarizes the nature of my concerns and the content of personal experiences which stir my activism: "Necessity is the plea for every infringement on human freedom. It is the argument of tyrants; it is the creed of slaves". --Paul (more...)
