You might remember some of these stories, or maybe they're all new to you. Regardless whether you heard them or not, they all bear repeating because they may be symptomatic of a society and culture in the early stages of a complete meltdown.
Sociologists should apply for research grants to study this outbreak of idiocy. It's a social cancer that is definitely spreading and beginning to infect every level of American society. Fifty years ago, the protagonists in these incidents would have--at the very least--be instructed to see a psychiatrist. Now they are tolerated and people just cluck their tongues and shake their heads.

Stephanie Willett, who works for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency was caught in the crime of chewing. She was finishing up eating a PayDay candy bar when an authority stepped in, informed her she'd broken the law, and arrested and handcuffed her.
Was that a skit on Comedy Central? No, it appeared as a news item in the Washington Post.
