Tibetan Government Releases Graphic Footage of Beatings and Repression by China

The Tibetan Government-in-Exile released rare footage this week of Chinese forces brutally beating Tibetans in Lhasa following the unprecedented protests that took place in March 2008. The graphic footage also shows the fatal wounds inflicted by Chinese authorities on a young Tibetan man, Tendar, who was detained after attempting to stop Chinese police from beating a monk in Lhasa on March 14.

The graphic video footage is available here:

"This extremely rare and shocking footage confirms Tibetan worst fears about the horrific pain and suffering Tibetans are experiencing at the hands of the Chinese authorities in the wake of last year's uprising, since Tibet was closed from the rest of the world," said Rigzin Latoe, President of Tibetan Association. "The brutality of the Chinese authorities towards Tibetans as seen in this footage is not a rare exception, but a daily experience for Tibetans under Beijing's treatment of the Tibetan people over the past 50 years. Such inhuman treatment of the Tibetans is routine; we have been saying Tibetans are experiencing hell on earth for the last half a century. Recently, H.H. the Dalai Lama had said it again this 10th March and world took notice of it; however China is denying the fact."

This footage shows some of the only images available of the systematic and widespread torture suffered by thousands of Tibetans at the hands of the
Chinese government in the aftermath of the uprising in Tibet last March.

Chinese authorities have gone to great lengths to prevent any evidence of their repression in Tibet from reaching the outside world. Foreign journalists
are effectively banned from Tibet, and tourists are not allowed to travel
freely to geographical Tibetan areas. Tibetans who attempted to pass on
anyinformation about the protests or the crackdown to the outside world
riskdetention, torture and imprisonment.

In November last year, Norzin Wangmo, a Tibetan woman and former Chinese cadre, was sentenced to five years in prison for passing information through the phone and internet about the situation in Tibet.

"Every member of Congress and the Senate must be immediately requested to use all of their influence to bring about a rapid improvement of the future  for Tibetans remaining in Tibet at the hands of China; they must press Obama strongly on his promise to not forget about Tibet, and they must bring their own weight and influence to bear directly on all levels of the Chinese Government," said Stephen Fox, Editor, New Mexico Sun News.

It is clear that something terribly wrong is being done to Tibetans. China is still doing it systematically to meet their political objectives. The world is blind-folded and made to believe everything is OK.

With threat of trade and political hostility from China governments, our
leaders are neglecting the situation in Tibet which would definitely bring
negative consequences in a future world.

China is imposing a New Holiday for Tibetans to celebrate March 28 as "Serf
Emancipation Day.". This claim is the height of Chinese lies and the world's ignorance. Old Tibet is very backward in the field of economy and modern amenities but people enjoyed their life and freedom.

Some experts believe that this holiday is created to create resentment and a new tool to crush Tibetan love for H.H. The Dalai Lama, and to buy international and Chinese public support and sympathy for Chinese Governments misdeeds in Tibet. An excuse to bring more troops to Tibet and impose military thread to neighboring countries.

If we listen and believe Chinese lies about bringing democracy and freedom to Tibet by China, then one day, we have to believe that if, one day when China claims the system of democracy and the Nobel Peace Committee had been originated from China.

China is "trying to gain truth about the size of a yak telling mountains of lies." Tibetans have experienced occupation and enslavement but not "liberation".

It is high time that the world should, in a united and coordinated way,
influence China at least to allow free and independent international fact
finding personnel and media into Tibet with immediate effect to separate fact from false and misspell horrific crisis going on in Tibet now.+

"Every member of Congress and the Senate must be immediately requested to use all o ftheir influence to bring about a rapid improvement of the future  for Tibetans remaining in Tibet at the hands of China; they must press Obama strongly on his promise to not forget about Tibet, and they must bring their own weight and influence to bear directly on all levels of the Chinese Government," said Stephen Fox, Editor, New Mexico Sun News.
