The Empire's minions are rotating so fast that it's hard to keep up, as June, which used to be the month for weddings, becomes the month for elections - or what passes for popular consultations. 'Democracy' appears to be alive and well, but what about 'The People'?
Egypt got a new president, whose courts handed down death sentences to some 600 demonstrators. To mark its displeasure at the way the former president was overturned by the military before it put its leader in charge of the country, it didn't send any high ranking officials to his inauguration.[tag]

Meanwhile, Obama's point man on foreign policy, John Kerry, seemed fit to split a gut when he reacted to the Syrian presidential election while on a trip to neighboring Lebanon, into which the Syrian war spills over, and which currently has no president. Like a kid who didn't like what he got for Christmas, he called the election, in which an Assad ran against opponents for the first time "Meaningless!", adding: "The elections are non-elections. A great big zero. Nothing has changed from the day before the election to the day after. Nothing. The conflict is the same, the terror is the same, the killing is the same." Kerry's abandonment of diplomatic language - and pretense - was truly astonishing. It's as though he had been believing his own propaganda and couldn't handle the fact that President Assad really has popular support.
Kosovo's current Prime Minister and former guerilla leader Hashim Thaci is expected to win a third term in yesterday's election. A new RT documentary on the break-up of Yugoslavia and NATO's intervention in support of Kosovo independence, reveals it as a prelude to what the West is trying to do in Ukraine. A must watch, or catch it on RT's website.
It turns out that fully 60 countries will have either presidential or parliamentary elections in 2014. That's almost one third of the countries of the world. And guess what? When I googled "international elections in 2014", the website I came up with that listed those elections was The National Democratic Institute, which has been around since 1983 and works "to establish and strengthen political and civic organizations, safeguard elections, and promote citizen participation, openness and accountability in government."
For each presidential or parliamentary election listed on its website, there are notations such as: "NDI activity to be determined, NDI assistance to nonpartisan citizen election monitors and NDI support to candidate debates". In the case of the June 15th municipal elections in Georgia, Russia's southern back door, it reads: "NDI pre-election assessment mission, long-term election analysis and assistance to nonpartisan citizen election monitors, including PVT (whatever that is)." It will be interesting to see how those elections play out under the NDI's aegis. Its list of bi-partisan board members (who probably draw significant stipends) includes everyone who is anyone in the supposedly moderate wing of the democratic party, starting with Tom Dashle, but whose individual credentials read like a who's who of finance and law, with the occasional smattering of good works.
I had not been aware of this NGO (sic), and am interested in any details readers can provide on its role in the growth of the Empire and the New World Order VP Biden recently told U.S. Air Force cadets they would be called upon to defend.
