"How does it feel to be abandoned by your friends at FOX? I mean, the only reason we could get you on tonight is that, I'm guessing, they didn't call."
- CNN's Bill Weir's interview with Clivan Bundy on April 24
FOX News is such a train-wreck of political gavagai. And one of their leading pundits, Sean Hannity, has become a very dangerous man after his acerbic condemnation of a wealthy Nevada rancher who made outrageous, horrific, racial remarks immediately after giving this tax cheat and domestic terrorist several weeks' worth of grand praise for being a patriot.
Wealthy Nevada cattle rancher Clivan Bundy should not only be tried for bilking the federal government out of more than $1 million dollars in taxes (he's refused to pay grazing fees for his cattle roaming on federal lands for two decades), but he also should be tried for treason and terrorism, after orchestrating his supporters in a week-long standoff with law enforcement officials.
Earlier this month, Bundy and his armed supporters - some who traveled into Nevada from other states - staged a standoff with federal, state and local law enforcement. According to reports, they even considered using women in their group as human shields, putting them on the front lines.
If Bundy was on the far left rather than the far right, you can bet your bottom dollar that he would have been arrested already and might even be Gitmo bound. But since he's on the other side of the fence, he's walking around a free man, continuing to make racist comments and maybe even planning another act of domestic terrorism.
"I believe this is a sovereign state of Nevada. And I abide by all Nevada's state laws. But I don't recognize the United States government as even existing," he said.
Wow! And Sean Hannity was blindly devoted to this lunatic?
Statements made by Hannity while he was Bundy's No. 1 cheerleader are so harebrained and simplistic that they sound like comments a first-year journalism student at a junior college might say before the school's camera. Or worse, what a drunk in a bar would slur during a tirade of political arguments with other drunks sitting on the stools around him:
* "People should not die over a few cows eating free government grass."
* "What's wrong with Bundy's cows simply cutting the grass for free?"
* We have rapists, pedophiles and murderers. Why is government focusing on this piece of land?"
* "Grazing more cattle on federal government land will keep beef prices down."
Hannity, like Dan Rather and Martin Bashir, should be forced to resign his position at FOX News for this - a major gaffe. This is far more than a faux pas on Hannity's part. It puts FOX News right on the same page as a far-right terrorist organization.
Being the phony pundit, though, Hannity didn't turn coat on Bundy until the multi-millionaire rancher began making racist comments about African-Americans. Hannity and FOX News, hit by the curve ball of political correctness, took a 180-degree turn, lambasting Bundy for his off-the-chain hateful remarks against blacks.
