North Korea: A Bastard State

Everyone that reads my articles knows that I abhor war in all its forms. Then again, anyone that has kept up with me knows that I have a particular dislike for the nation of North Korea. In my articles I have stressed over and over that it's not Iran, Afghanistan or Iraq that the U.S. should be worried about, it's North Korea. This situation that we find ourselves in that part of Asia is our entire fault. We could have helped South Korea become a viable threat to North Korea instead of turning it into a "proxy State" that not only does the bidding of the U.S., but relies on the U.S. Military. We should have made them self-sufficient.

This is all water under the bridge. What we are facing now is a military dictatorship that holds power through its military and its military posture. What most Americans don't realize is that Seoul, a city of 10.3 million people, is in direct range of thousands of artillery pieces that are lodged in the mountains of North Korea. When I was in South Korea, we used to look through our telescopes and watch them roll out the howitzers on rails.

There are about 100,000 American servicemen and their families in the vicinity of Seoul.   If a war was to erupt this week, they would be incinerated if the North Koreans used incendiary shells in their artillery. This isn't conjecture, its fact. I spent almost five years in the country, used to speak the language, and have studied everything that has come out regarding the two countries. There isn't much that I don't know about the Korean peninsula.

The older people in Korea remember the war. The younger people don't, so, of course, since the shelling of the island of Yeonpyeong is a call to arms for them. What a shame that they don't realize what they are getting themselves into.

The leader of North Korea regards the war games of South Korea and the United States as an act of war. Our government should take this threat most seriously. The Joint Chiefs of Staff should already have every launcher capable of firing a nuclear missile targeted. Not only that, we should have every aircraft capable of carrying bunker buster bombs on standby to launch an attack on the artillery pieces overlooking Seoul, If we don't have these resources in place than shame on us. It's easy to launch a war against a nation that can't fight back, but this time I can promise that North Korea is not such a nation.

Sometimes a preemptive war is justified. In the case of North Korea, I can't think of anything that would more justify a premptive strike.   They are not going to listen to reason. Reason is not their strong suit. If Obama wants to be a war President, let him ponder the options of dealing with North Korea. These war games that are scheduled for tomorrow will be considered an act of war by the ruling junta. If it's war they desire, let's make sure we are the ones that strike first. I don't wish to see 10.3 million people perish because of principle. With North Korea, principle is not a word in their dictionary. I've been there and I've seen it. I know what how the cards will play out.
