If it isn't Assad and if it isn't the rebels, who could lob
poison-gas missiles into Syria?
Israel has lobbed missiles into Syria before on several
occasions and it is the only country in the region that can do so with impunity.
Pushing the United States to attack Syria directly serves Israeli interests.
Israel wanted to poison the relationship between Syria and the United States
anyway. What better way to do that than to show that Syria committed an
abhorrent crime against humanity? This will not only get the gullible United States
mad but will also get the whole world aligned against Syria.
Up till now, there is no sure evidence that Syrian forces
actually fired those missiles that carried the poison gas into the suburbs of
Damascus to kill hundreds of men, women, and children. These types of massacres
and killings are the specialty of Israel. Remember the white phosphorus in Gaza
and the mass killings in Lebanon? This episode has the fingerprints of Israel
all over it. This time, it is designed to not only kill women and children as in
the past; it is also designed to get the United States, with all its might,
involved in directly attacking Syria.
It may be too early to know all the facts, but I am almost
certain that Israeli fingers are involved in this massacre. Listen to the eerie
silence of Israel and its allies. They are covering up something.
The whole episode is a reminder of what happened just before
the war in Iraq when Colin Powel showed the whole world the evidence for the
existence of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. In fact it was no evidence at
all. The results of that fiasco have stained indelibly the credibility of the
United States and its allies forever, not to mention the lives that were lost
and the treasures that are still being wasted.
This time, my prediction is that the plot will not work.
Although everybody abhors Assad and his murderous regime, I cannot agree to convict
him of something he may have not done. In time, the world will realize that
Israel is behind the whole scheme. If the United States does attack Syria on
the basis of the flimsy evidence, provided mostly by Israel, it will be a grave
mistake for which we shall all pay again with our lives and treasure.
