Delay or Gap: It All Depends On Who Causes It

On September 29, 1973, President Richard Nixon was accused of misconduct in the "Watergate" scandal when his secretary, Rose Mary Woods, caused an 18+-minute gap while transcribing a tape made on June 20, 1972. Ms. Woods' explanation that she "made a terrible mistake" was met with great skepticism by the MSM. Nixon eventually resigned the presidency on August 8, 1974, the only U.S. president to resign. There is no evidence that Nixon's 18+  minutes of tape gap caused any loss of U.S. lives. The resignation was the result of a less than successful cover-up.

On September 11, 2001, President George W. Bush was reading The Pet Goat to students at an elementary school in Sarasota, FL, when he was informed by Andrew Card, his chief of staff, that a second plane had hit the World Trade Center, thus confirming that a terrorist attack was in progress. Bush continued to read to the students for an additional 7 minutes. The MSM and Senator John Kerry, his 2004 presidential opponent, castigated him for that 7-minute "delay" or "gap." There is absolutely no evidence that Bush's "delay" cost more American lives, or changed anything concerning the events of 9/11. In fact, Bush began taking quite decisive and effective actions against the terrorists very soon after the attacks.

On September 11, 2012, the American consulate in Benghazi, Lybia, was attacked, resulting in the deaths of US Ambassador Chris Stevens and fellow US citizens Sean Smith, Glen Doherty, and Tyrone Woods. Congressional testimony has shed very little, if any, light on President Barack Hussein Obama's specific locations or actions during 7+ hours of the 8-hour assault, thus creating a 450-minute gap, or delay. We do know that during a national-security crisis, what proved to be a  life-and-death crisis situation, Obama's activities of 450 minutes remain a complete mystery. We have learned that Obama attended a previously arranged 30-minute meeting with Defense Secretary Leon Panetta and Military Joint Chiefs of Staff Chair Army General Martin Dempsey, but that was the extent of Panetta's and Dempsey's contact with Obama. Even as the attack continued, Obama did not ever call them for an update. My personal speculation, after reading several accounts of the attack and subsequent non-action, is that Obama was too busy getting ready to attend a fund-raising event in Las Vegas, NV, the next day to be bothered with such a minor attack.

Bottom line: Obama's "delay" DID cost lives. Four U.S. citizens were murdered while Obama delayed, did nothing, caused a gap. Yet he is somehow immune to anything similar to the political consequences suffered by Bush and Nixon. Surprising? Not when you consider that some presidents come under much less scrutiny from the MSM than others. While Nixon's and Bush's delays caused no deaths, Obama's delay directly caused the death of four Americans. If not, then why has a cover-up started? Why has the White House and Obama's staff offered so many conflicting stories? Is the truth of Obama's non-actions so damning? Will the American public ever know the truth, the complete story?

Now the irony has come full circle. In August 2004, Kerry said of Bush's delay, "Had I been reading to children and had my top aide whispered in my ear, 'America is under attack,' I would have told those kids very politely and nicely that the president of the United States had something that he needed to attend to." The same John Kerry who condemned George Bush's actions has been nominated by Barack Hussein Obama to be Secretary of State. Can anyone say "hypocrite"? Perhaps Kerry should have offered the same advice to Obama.

Further, we now have three delays/gaps: 7 minutes by Bush, 18+ minutes by Nixon, and 450 minutes by Obama. The delays, or gaps, are getting longer, with Obama's by far the longest. But, as Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said, "What difference at this point does it make?" while trying to cover for Obama's delay. She, and the entire Obama administration, then proceeded to lie to U.S. citizens about Obama's non-action, his delay, his gap. And the MSM ate it up, giving Obama a pass on his delay.

But that's just my opinion.
