Another Day In La-La Land

It is becoming too easy -- as a mere citizen like me -- to see right through the posers, pretenders, and fakers of America's ersatz "news media."

The most important thing going happened on Monday night. An event that matters greatly to the course of history and to all Americans.

Did you hear about it? Did ABC, CBS, and NBC break into normal programming with special coverage? Are there special alerts and bulletins on the cable news networks, where people can see them?

No, no, and no! (Unless you follow this issue. In that case, the answers may be yes, no, and no.)

Once upon a time, all national news came from those three networks, and from eight or ten other "big sources." (The top 7 being AP, UPI, the New York Times, the Washington Post, Time, Newsweek, and U.S. News.) It used to be possible to contain, or to stop news, simply by avoiding its mention at the aforementioned top 10 news outlets.

As opposed to the old days, we are now in the new days. You or I can go to Google news and find the big news -- which I alluded to above -- is already in more than 2,100 articles at many news outlets around the Web. Yet, this news is happening very quietly at those "top 10" news outlets, which will be the last to speak of it loudly. Once again, they are in the mode of ducking news, rather than reporting it.

It's at 2,100+ places around the web, and yet one poster with a comment at the Baltimore Sun wrote, "Why isn't this on every major news network in the country?" Maybe because the corrupt minders of the top 10 news outlets simply have to reveal their corruption to the public one more time.

It's news made by a U.S. Congressman on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives. Dennis Kucinich introduced articles of impeachment for President George W. Bush. It's going to be hard to bury this news, but the top 10 places are trying hard.

Let's think about how I -- a mere citizen -- got this news. Sometime in the 9p.m. hour, I opened my Inbox to check my email. There, OpEdNews.com had sent me a bulletin, written at 8:40 and mailed at 8:51, saying "Dennis Kucinich is, Right NOW, 8:40 EST on the Floor of the House of Representatives Presenting 35 Articles of Impeachment Against President George W. Bush."

That wasn't hard. That didn't take insider access. I didn't work the phones with well placed political contacts. I didn't even leave my house in Connecticut. But at the same time, the news networks were only presenting their standard blather, perhaps about Obama versus McCain. Not a peep has come from my television set, tuned to such things as CNN, MSNBC, and FOX.

Also, I went to various web sites. Over six hours later, ABCnews.com thinks that the following story deserves front page billing:

WATCH: Office Freak Out: Real or Fake?

At CBSnews.com, "Revolutionary Swimsuit Built For Speed" is a higher priority for the editors who choose the front page stories. But they have a box at the top right, which indicates the "most viewed" story is Kucinich Offers Impeachment Articles Against Bush. So the tendency of editors is on display at the left, while the tendency of readers is on display at the right.

At the front page of MSNBC, it's like ABC -- there is no sign of the impeachment story whatsoever. The front page of CNN completely hides the story, too.

Let's face it -- the big boys don't want to impeach the President, even if it would be the healthiest thing that could happen to American politics.

Or, perhaps, they are sympathetic to impeachment, but that's private and they feel that "FOLLOW THE GROUPTHINK" is the First Commandment of journalism (or at least, the way to keep their jobs).
