Forty-five years ago today, the singing group the Fifth Dimension's recording of "The Age of Aquarius" reached the number one spot on Billboard's Hot 100 singles chart. This month, the astrological conditions the group sang about will be happening in the sky, along with several other alignments that will give us the rocket fuel we need to leap into the new Age of Aquarius.

The Song
The Fifth Dimension released "The Age of Aquarius" in spring 1969 as part of the group's album of the same name. They performed it as a medley with "Let the Sun Shine In." Both songs appeared originally in the groundbreaking rock musical Hair, with lyrics by James Rado and Gerome Ragni and music by Galt MacDermott.
The Fifth Dimension's version hit number one on the Billboard chart on April 12, 1969, where it stayed for six weeks. It went on to win a Grammy in 1970 for Record of the Year.
The Astrology
The Moon will be in Libra from 3:34 a.m. CDT April 13 through 11:21 a.m. CDT April 15. Libra is the sign associated with the seventh house, so during this period the Moon will occupy the the symbolic seventh house of harmony, love, peace, partnerships, and balance. Although the Moon passes through Libra (and all the other signs) every month, this month's lunar passage through the sign of the Scales will be extra powerful and filled with enormous potential to embrace endings in preparation for new beginnings because it coincides with a total lunar eclipse at 2:42 a.m. CDT (7:42 a.m. Greenwich time) on Tuesday, April 15.
Jupiter will line up with Mars in an exact square on Tuesday, April 22, at 2:27 p.m. CDT (7:27 p.m. Greenwich time). A square is a 90-degree angle, which brings inner tension and turmoil until our awareness allows us to reach a turning point. Jupiter occupies tender Cancer, the sign of birth, motherhood, and memory, while Mars occupies Libra, the same sign in which the Moon will be eclipsed on April 15.
Both of these events are part of an epochal series of eight astrological formations occurring this month from April 15 through 29. As explained in the Astrology April 2014: Ready for Your Breakthrough? article two days ago, these astrological events consist of six exact alignments as part of the cardinal cross (also called a grand square), bookended by two eclipses.
Starting April 15 with the lunar eclipse, we have the opportunity to let go of the old (including the Age of Pisces) so we can welcome in new beginnings with the solar eclipse of April 29 (including the start of the Age of Aquarius). In between these eclipses we'll undergo a challenging series of squares and oppositions that will bring clashes and create turning points so we can birth something new. Like the labor required to birth a child, this period may feel dramatic and intense, and we may feel little control as change seems to take on a life of its own. Yet at the end of this experience, we will be different.
The Promise of This New Age of Aquarius
As explained in An Aquarian Manifesto, humanity stands ready to complete its shift from the Piscean Age to the Aquarian Age. In living the highest and noblest expression of Aquarian energies, we will enjoy the great Awakening that will create a new Golden Age of peace, wisdom, and true harmony.
Let the current powerful astrology help you make your personal leap into the new and beautiful age of harmony, "The Age of Aquarius." Allow yourself to make the most of whatever turning points come to you in the rest of this month so you can turn toward the future and be ready to birth your own "heaven on earth" starting at the solar eclipse on April 29.
Let a new day dawn and the new age begin!
